The Reflective Human began in 2018 from a simple but urgent need: to teach our preteens strong morals and values without relying on the threat of fire and brimstone or promises of eternal reward, but instead on empathy, reason and shared humanity. We started by creating life skill courses and holding weekly learning sessions built around reflective questions and open discussion.

These conversations explored personal choices, social and economic realities, and the political, religious and cultural forces that shape how people interact. Through these discussions, our boys learned to express their views, think intentionally about their decisions, and develop habits of self-improvement.
